2023 Denali Estate Pinot Noir 3PK
This wind-swept site in the southeast corner of the Petaluma Gap AVA, where the cool breeze from San Pablo Bay combines with ocean air funneled through the Gap, leaves an indelible mark on its wines. The soil and wind contribute to a naturally low-yielding crop vibrant with acidity and fresh fruit notes. Fruity, floral, earthy, and elegant describe the 2023 Denali Estate Pinot Noir.
The wine is a blend of two suitcase clones, Swan and Calera. The Swan clone came into the country by Paul Masson who cut budwood from Romanée-Conti for his Saratoga vineyard. It was propagated later by Joseph Swan in the Russian River Valley. The Calera clone is named for Josh Jensen, the legendary founder of Calera. It was rumored he took vine cuttings from Romanée-Conti following his relationship there as an intern.
